This week I’m sharing New Products, LaCartera’s Business Plan, Introducing AP Quilting Production Maker, LaCartera Kids’, Craft/Flea Market Schedule, Spoonflower Shop & Etsy Opening.
New Products
As some of you know, I’ve been participating in the Spoonflower challenges, which have jump started my creativity. I’ve placed 42nd in one challenge and had ulterior motives with other challenges. All of this has inspired a brand new product line for LaCartera.
I’m over the moon with this product and look forward to adding more designs and colors to the list. I will post the full line during the second week of April.
These are not the official product pictures, but I wanted to give you the inside scoop of what I’ve been working on:

All of the fabrics are for sale in my Spoonflower shop. I used the chiffon fabric to create these beauties! The two sizes available are 12″x 36″ and 17″ x 36″. I will also have a 17″x 72″ available on Etsy next month along with this cute packing!
Getting Down to Business
During the last two month’s I’ve been focusing on officially turning my hobby and my passion into a business.
That’s right it’s official! LaCartera Designs is a small business now with a plan! LaCartera’s mission is to provide quality ladies accessories and kids clothing! As you know I’ve fell in love with the little girls dresses and I will have a few things for the little guys too!
Each item will be handmade with love in a smoke free enviornment and 15% of each sale during each month will go to one of my favorite charities… Boys Town, Homeless shelters, and DonorsChoose.org projects to improve classrooms for students and our future leaders!
Production Maker
Please help me welcome Lisa! She’s the Quilt Production maker for LaCartera’s Etsy shop! She loves to make themed beading for children and is also the new small business owner of AP Quilting!
I’ve known Lisa for 15 years and we both celebrate the fact that we are grandmother’s who feel in love with making things for our grandbabies and family members to cherish. Together we will create products for children that will make great keepsakes and beautiful baby shower gifts too!
Here’s an inside look at what’s in store during April from AP Quilting :
LaCartera Kids
I accepted the Ladybug challenge that I’ll share later this week. At first I was a little hesitant to participate, but soon realized that I need kids fabrics and this would be the perfect opportunity to create something.
Here’s a sneak peek of the design I created and I’ll show what I created when I post the challenge (scheduled on Wednesday).
Craft Fair/ Flea Market
Our goal is to attend the Arlington Civitan Open Air Market in Arlington, VA – the first Saturday of each month starting on April 6th until November 2nd. Our first showing on April 6th will determine if we will attend the open air market every month or every other month. We don’t want to stretch ourselves too thin and want to stock the Etsy shop with items ready to ship. I’ll keep you posted!
In the meantime mark your calendars and if you’re in the area between 7:00 am – 1:00pm stop by and say hello! I’ll send out a reminder and post on Facebook if you follow me there.
Stay tuned there’s more to come from LaCartera!
This is fantastic news!! Congratulations and I’m wishing you all the success. Your design styles are awesome.. I especially love the orange/yellow scarf. very retro and vintage feel.. I look forward to seeing your line.

Thank you, Jamila! I look forward to the release. It’s been lots of paperwork, designing, sewing, & more sewing. And there’s still more sewing to do! 😅
