This week I received a couple of photos of my sling bag on the beach, I have two sewing items to fix and correct. One is my grandson’s shirt and the other is the laptop bag. I think last week was a blur, but at least I started the sewing resource page and I’m thinking about the latest Spoonflower design challenge. I also started preparing for the Design-O-Rama link-up, and created a couple of blog buttons. So here’s the latest thread…
Sewing Textiles, Textile Designs & Blogging
I’m very excited about my sewing resource page, which you can find on my menu bar. I’ve been trying to find time to get this page started since last year. I finally have a place where you can check for the latest sewing finds, online sewing classes, and my favorite places to shop. My plan is to update it at least monthly with new training classes, or other great finds that I’ve posted so you don’t have to search or remember the post that contained the item you wanted to look at a little closer. You can check out the page here…
Blog Buttons
IAs you can see I’ve focused on the blog this week and created a couple of buttons for featured sewing tips and the Holiday craft link-up “Design-O-Rama” party this year! The craft link-up party will be hosted by Crafty Staci and myself starting the first week in October, I hope you share all of the crafts, handmade gifts, recipe’s, designs etc… for Halloween, Thanksgiving, & Christmas! I hope this will inspire some of you to create and others to share their awesome crafts! Here’s a peek at the new buttons you will see on the blog soon…. If you’re looking to create a button you can go to “Grab my button code generator” to create your own for free!
Fun Sewing Projects
I enjoyed receiving the glamour shots of my sling bag on the beach! My daughter-in-law is really making good use of this versatile bag!
She says that it makes a great beach bag, conveniently stylish when she wants to run errands without a diaper bag, and the inside pocket stores her keys and phone perfectly! The sling bag pattern is available in my shop.
Well two of the fun sewing projects I have to fix! Note to self…that’s what happens when you don’t have the proper size or rush to get things done. Well my grandsons birthday outfit was perfect with one small exception…. the head opening on the shirt was too small! I was really disappointed when I finally had my little model in person and the top wouldn’t fit over his head. The shirt is the perfect size so I decided to cut a V opening through the collar and neck to make the opening wider. I’ll share the results next week…
I hope to get some great pictures of the outfit on my little model soon!
The laptop bag has similar issues and I decided against adding another zipper so I’m thinking of adding a magnetic snap or tie option to offer different options and sizes for the PDF pattern. So I hope to get the creative juices flowing this weekend!
Design Challenge
Each month Spoonflower offers a new design challenge for textile designers! Last month I didn’t make the list of the top 15 designs selected to move to the next round, but I had a great time! My XOXO design wasn’t selected so it will be released in my Spoonflower shop soon! The August challenge is the Commonthread Vintage Christmas Design Challenge! The challenge inspires a fresh take on a classic holiday theme for an exclusive collection of customizable Commonthread stockings. Read more here…
Textile Designs
I didn’t have a chance to focus on any new designs this past week, but I’m looking forward to fall! I created so many designs this summer that I need to get those approved and released. I updated the XOXO design to incorporate a couple of different colors that were shared with me, but I hope to focus on some new fall designs this weekend!.
Here are a couple of favorites on Instagram this week.
