I found cheap PDF pattern storage supplies at the Dollar Store where everything is a dollar! It is definitely worth the trip if you’re looking to organize your craft supplies too!
Here are a couple of ideas I found useful for storing PDF patterns.
Pin this for later!
I thought it would be fun to cover file storage boxes (used for hanging folders) with fabric to customize the look along with the 9×12 inch envelopes to organize my patterns.
Besides the mailer envelopes I noticed brown wrapping paper that could be used for tracing patterns or creating patterns for $1…. I couldn’t believe it! There is definitely more than enough paper to create several patterns.
I found two boxes for my PDF patterns, a paper storage box, one pack of dividers, and 5 packs of envelopes to get me started.
I removed the lid of the box and I really didn’t think carefully about my fabric choice, but afterwards I remembered the contact paper I saw on the shelves of the dollar store. After testing the spray adhesive glue on one box and Mod Podge on the second box. I would have avoided all of the glue residue on my hands and work surface if I wrapped the boxes with contact paper.
While the glue on the boxes dried, I decided to organize my PDF patterns along with my hand drawn patterns. I folded the patterns and placed them into the envelopes and taped the PDF pattern covers on the front of the envelope. This helps me to stay organized and at a quick glance I can find what I need. I also wrote the name of the hand-drawn patterns on the remaining envelopes.
I grouped the patterns and created tabs for them. If you have folders with tabs that would work too!
And the final look with room to grow! Also fits nicely on my shelf.
Well… I had to go back to the dollar store to buy more boxes and contact paper to get the look I wanted. The contact paper is very easy to handle and you will need one roll per box you plan to cover.
So let’s look at the next option! This binder has served me well for a couple of years until I ran out of room. At least I have a place for the overflow now! I also noticed binders at the Dollar Store too, which still may be an option later.
