Hello Handbag Junkies! I recently visited the Haute Fabric Store in Arlington, Virginia. And all I can say is WOW…
This shop is amazing! I think they sell all of the Haute fabrics ever made there. I went without a plan expecting something to jump out at me, but there were so many fabrics that I couldn’t make up my mind. So this time… it was too haute to shop! No major shopping, but I see another shopping trip in my future.
I took this picture from the top of the stairs looking over the sea of textiles.
I spotted more color the next aisle over and I had to investigate. So many colorful handbags racing through my mind..
Then the silks drew me in closer and I thought….This must be what heaven looks like.. 🙂 I’m so glad I took pictures to make a selection before I go back.
Well I didn’t leave empty-handed, because this wishbone remnant greeted me at the door when I arrived. Only 2.5 yards remained at $25 a yard and I was able to negotiate the price to $20 a yard. The color and the soft plush texture sucks me in every time!
Normally I’m a thrifty girl, but I had to have it. I found a similar wishbone remnant a couple of years ago at an antique shop. I sold the tote bag shown below at my first craft fair to the girlfriend that introduced me to the Haute Fabric Store. Now that’s a coincidence!
I’m thinking of making another tote bag similar to this… What do you think? Is it a Hit or Miss? Fab or Drab?
Stay tuned there’s more to come from LaCartera!

Oh wow I have to check this shop out!! Thanks for sharing.
