I created a creative workspace for my sewing, painting and any other creative endeavor I can think of. I’ve searched everywhere for an affordable craft table, but the cost, or the perfect storage, length, and table height was difficult to find. That’s when I decided to make my own craft table with the help of my husband.
- Foremost stackable cubes
- Vinyl flooring
- 3/4 Pressboard sheet
- Drywall screws (or L brackets)
- Drill/Screw driver
- Titebond original wood glue
I found the Foremost stackable cubes on Amazon. Each standard cube is 15″ length x 15″ width. I mixed the standard cubes with two cubes that are 30″ length x 15″ width.
I choose 3/4″ pressboard from HomeDepot. The great part is that they will cut the board for you. I needed a 30″ width x 60″ length piece to fit my table. Since you’re able to get two free cuts also got a smaller cut 12″ width x 30″ length that was secured to the beams in the wall using the drywall screws. The small board was used as a shelf brace for my table top, or you can use L-brackets to attach the table top to the cubes.
Instead of painting or staining the pressboard table top, we glued the vinyl flooring with the Titebond wood glue, which allows for easy cleanup. The vinyl flooring was cut to size with scissors for the table top, front and side edge trim pieces.
I filled the cubes with my supplies, and folded my fabric to fit nicely in the drawers. As you know, I’ hoard fabric, and will need more two drawer cubes to store my fabric. 🙂
Thanks to my hubby, I’m able to enjoy my workspace!
Stay tuned there’s more to come from LaCartera!
