The Latest Thread – Happy 2018!

It’s been a while since I had a chance to hangout  with you guy’s!  I missed chatting, crafting and sharing with you too! Last year came roaring in like a bull in a candy shop for me and left me picking up the pieces till the very end of the year. So Happy New Year!

My husband and I moved back into our home in October, and it was like no other move that we ever experienced.  After the fire next door our things were placed in a box in no particular order, cleaned and/or shipped to a warehouse.  When it was time to bring our things back…….it was a disaster!

Granted we lived in the same home for 17 years and we should have gotten rid of some things long ago, but I know if we packed our things it  would have been a smoother transition!  Boxes everywhere!

We both excepted our circumstance and stayed in a hotel for eight months.  We met a lot of new friends and gained several pounds too!  I’m disappointed in the fact that I put on pounds so close to our departure and several more after we moved back home, but I have plenty of time to work on that issue during the year! 🙂 After eating at many restaurant’s during that time I can say that there’s nothing like a home cooked meal…

Now I have a clean slate to design, buy new things and add some of my finishing touches too!  I had the contractors paint all of the walls white, which allows me to let my creativity shine through now that I have my craft room back!

I love to decorate and now I get to change some things for the best. As most of you know I’ve been trying to incorporate my orange textiles into my kitchen without too much pushback from the hubby and now I’ve been given the opportunity to do so. Now that I’ve laid the groundwork I see orange placemats and window curtains in my future really soon….

The living room has remained the same, but there’s always a chance for change!

I  worked on some crafts, but tried not to crowd my husband with all of my crafting supplies in the hotel room.  If you follow me on Instagram  and Facebook you’ve been keeping up with some of the crafts I finished during the summer. The Hello Kitty appliqued baby blanket  for my grand-daughter and new textile designs filled my crafting void.

I did get a chance to take some textile design classes using Adobe photoshop and illustrator  so that I didn’t have to pull out the paint too many times. Here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come!

So with my 5th year anniversary, I have a new outlook toward design and new design techniques in my arsenal… I look forward to SEWING, sharing textile designs, LaCartera Kids outfits, PDF patterns, sewing tips and most of all handmade handbags with you this year!

Thank you for catching up with me and stay tuned there’s more to come from LaCartera!

  3. Oh my stars!! Welcome back… I’ve got some catching up with you…I’ve seen some of your posts on Instagram and congrats on your beautiful grandbaby. It’s a blessing that even through the storm of life’s happenings, there’s always sunshine. I love that peek of fabric you teased us with, I can’t wait to see it.. I saw a similar print on a chair and am looking for something with a bold print like that to put on a chair. So yes, I’m excited for you and about this!!!

Hello Jamala! It’s so nice to get back into the swing of things and yes there’s always a blessing in the midst of the storm. I was on a roller-coaster ride dealing with the highs and the lows! Bittersweet! 🙂 I missed you all and especially sewing, but designing textiles kept me sane! I have ordered the swatches for the prints so I hope to approve this print and more soon! I know you like a classic vintage look and you love your chairs! If you have a vision in mind that you want to see in print, I’m happy to design something for you. 🙂
