Happy New Year Everyone! I’m so happy to welcome a new year with the hope of pursuing new adventures and envisioning new creative dreams. The happy memories of 2018 are etched in my mind forever, but I’m also filled with the anticipation of the new paths life will take me in 2019!

I haven’t chatted with some of you in a while, but I feel that I can finally get back on track with the blog and sharing the things that I love to create. During the years of 2017 – 2018, I had to face challenges with a house fire, and a family health scare. Now that all is well and I’ve concurred those issues I feel it’s time to focus on things that keep me sane when life gets a little complicated!

So let’s catch-up and take a look at the best of 2018 and some of the things I enjoyed creating in 2018!  

LaCartera Kids “Dresses”

So what have I been up to creatively you may ask? Well, I found solace in creating little girls dresses. I intended to make one or two pillowcase dresses for my grand daughter’s birthday and ended up falling in love with the process of creating looks for her. I think I’m really addicted to the process of creating things that not only put a smile not only on my face, but others too.  It doesn’t help that she’s so stinking cute (in my grandma’s voice) too!

I won’t overload you with all of the photos, but I can’t wait to share the new dresses I’m working on a little later.

The Teacher Apron

What started out as a special jester turned into a fun mix and matching of textiles for a unique look for my favorite Teacher Lady!  After posting the look on Facebook,  I had the privilege of creating aprons for a couple more elementary #tearcherladies.

The most important aspects of the reversible apron included pen, ruler and cell phone pockets.

Textile Designs

I had a chance to dabble with a few textile designs, but this year I’m challenging myself to enter more of the weekly Spoonflower design challenges.  I’m hoping that will help my creative juices to flow.

 

Family Time

I didn’t have a chance to spend time with a lot of family throughout the year, but I made the best out of the time I did have.  I even took the time to make some decorative things for the holiday, which is very unusual for me. Usually, I’m making gifts for others.
