Craft Room Style like a Boss!

No Not Gangnam Style, but Craft Room Style!  If you’re like me the heart of your home is your craft room, your space, your sanctuary! My philosophy is that you create a space that works for your needs!  The most important aspect to any craft room or space to me is organization! (No matter what size space you have.)  I hate to waste time hunting for something I need when it’s time to use it! Then comes your Style…

So What’s Craft Room Style?

Well like a Boss, you’re in charge of your own destiny!  Because I like things in order, I styled my room using Feng Shui. Using aspects and décor appropriate for the space along with the color. We can discuss decorating with Feng Shui later, but for now we are focusing on style. Incorporating your craft into your style is pleasing to see every-time you walk into the room . So for me – making my own curtains and using my textile designs brings me joyful ZEN!

I began styling my craft room with the picture wall, grouping the photos and of course hubby hanging them up so nicely.

Most of the pictures you can find at your local home décor store, with the exception of my personal collection of actual butterfly wing art I brought back from Nigeria.  Although, there are some butterfly wing prints available on-line. The wall reminds me of distant travels and I have space to add more pictures.

I created a pattern for this valance style I wanted to express and put my sewing skills to use.  (If you want a free copy of the pattern and a tutorial, please comment below and I’ll carve out some time to post it on my page.)

Since I scored the guest room as my crafting space, I have to share my craft room with my grandkids when they come to visit over night too!  I tried to make it comfortable for all of us, but the queen size bed had to go.  I found a comfy futon for us instead!  I can use it as a couch and put my feet up on the storage ottoman when I want to think and relax!  I also use it as a side table too!

And the grand-baby is comfy when he takes his nap too!

The blank wall next to the couch will be used to display my favorite textile designs on canvas frames!  I haven’t started that project yet, because I have more curtains to make.  This year my goal is to add my textile designs throughout the house so that I see a little of me in each room.

Small Spaces

I saw a great blog post by Sew Sara Smith!  She shares her organizing ideas and tips she uses in her small sewing space. Sara really made the space work for her needs and she does it with style! I love her ideas so much that I added her blog post link here.

Textiles

I created the textile I used for my valances two years ago and now I have a couple of more black, white and grey floral options I created over the summer.  I’m ordering the swatches now so that I can approve the designs in my Spoonflower shop.
