Hello Handbag Junkies’ It’s Hit or Miss time!
As you know I’ve spent most of the year designing textiles to use for my handbags among other things, but I finally completed a prototype for one of new purse designs that I will release soon. I have a custom order that forced me to learn some new leather strap making skills that I will put to good use. I was a little afraid to take on this challenge definitely second guessing myself along the way, from punching the holes, adding the buckle to attaching the strap to the bag. I have to say that I’m proud that I stuck to it and now I have more ideas for a bright and fresh look moving towards the future!
So with that said, I made my first adjustable leather shoulder strap with a buckle closure and I love it! This is the test phase with one of my favorite wishbone textiles that’s sturdy and soft to the touch. I added some suede to the zipper cover and a leather pocket to the lining.
Here’s a look at the strap and the rivet work that will give you five adjustable inches to work with!
I rounded the bottom of the bag to give it a bit of shape and I think it’s a great addition to any wardrobe.
What do you think? Is it a Hit or Miss? Fab or Drab?
Stay tuned there’s more to come from La Cartera!

Definitely a hit!! All the details, inside and out. You really do great work and it shows you love what you do. Love the leather strap detail too. Looks great sporting it with the jean jacket! Kudos!!
