This week I’ve been sewing, approving textiles and more sewing! I have a pretty nice list of items to get done. I knocked out the aprons and oven mitts, started on some of the tutorials that I promised, and hope to finish the my handbag prototype this week. So here’s the latest weekly thread!
Textiles, Pattern Making and Sewing Textiles
Are you ready for some football!! I completed two grilling/tailgate orders using fabric representing my favorite football team the “Dallas Cowboys”! Two sets of quilted oven mitts and two reversible aprons. I love the look of the quilted oven mitts! I was prepared to follow the quilted pattern on the white insulated batting thinking it was quite simple, but there was another design I had to follow and had difficulty seeing while using white thread. I also changed the look of the reversible aprons a bit and there’s enough fabric for three more orders, I will add it to my Etsy shop this week.
On the ladies dress form the apron appears that it’s only for females, but it’s a large unisex apron that can be worn by men. I will have my husband model the look for my Etsy listing.
This is the last of the blue and white mini stripe fabric, so that will not be available. I can never get a good shot of this pattern.
Handbag Junkies
I’m finishing the prototype for my latest Wishbone handbag design. I’m happy with the shape and I think this adjustable over the shoulder handbag, with a leather strap, leather pocket and suede trim will be a beauty. I need to add the strap and this beauty will be complete!
Just a little peek inside the soft fall/winter handbag…..
Textiles
Here’s a look at some of the textile designs on Spoonflower I’ve approved. I’ll start incorporating these designs into my creations and other projects in the next couple of months.
My plan is to finish the patterns and tutorials I started before the mad sewing rush, so bear with me. My little hands are trying to keep up! 🙂
What’s coming next week:
- Sewing Tutorial
- Sewing Tip
Stay tuned there’s more to come from LaCartera!
Love, love, love the bag!!!

Thank you, Linda! The strap is a bit tricky with the thickness of the fabric, but I’m up for the challenge! I hope to show this off soon. 🙂
