Have you heard of Textilbox.US?
Textilbox.US contacted me about their latest DIY decorative holiday gift bag promotion used for wrapping odd-shaped gifts, or using in lieu of a stocking for stocking stuffers. “Textilbox is a DIY creative sewing box delivered to your door. Each box includes the pattern, materials and step-by-step instructions. It’s a wonderful way for novice and intermediates to improve their sewing skills, while creating a practical novelty gift!”
I agreed to review the complimentary sewing box and share my thoughts.
I received the Textilbox in good condition excited to view the contents inside. The box included a red holiday inspired pre-cut Robert Kaufman fabric called “Holiday Flourish Metallic Pearl Swirl Scarlet”, a regular spool of matching thread, a pre-cut gold ribbon, safety-pin, step-by-step instructions, and a DIY Christmas bunting banner bonus gift from Simple Stories who has partnered with Textilbox.US for their holiday promotion. The box (6 1/2″ w x 10″L ) was able to fit in my mailbox when it was delivered.
I gathered the instructions and the sewing supplies to get started on the “Christmas Cloth Gift Bag.” The instructions suggested that you wash the fabric either by hand or machine wash in cold water. And Iron after drying.
While I waited for the fabric to dry I opened the bunting banner to check out the DIY gift from Simple Stories. The package contains 14 cardstock banner pieces, 16 mini clothespins, and 2 yards of twine.
The kit is so festive and you can arrange the bunting any way you like!
So since I had some time to spare I put it together the bunting to add some holiday cheer to my craft room. I know it’s over the top, but it was super convenient to clip the twine to the curtains nearby.
So back to the challenge!
The instructions said that it should take approximately 30 minutes to complete for a novice sewing level. So I set the timer to begin the project. The instructions also uses centimeters so I added my inch conversion beside the measurements. (I’m starting to include centimeters to my sewing measurements, but I’ve always used inches.)
There were four easy steps to complete the bag and within 30 minutes I had a cute gift bag ready to use for lotion bottles I plan to give as a Christmas gift. Maybe I’ll keep the bunting for myself! I give the Textilbox two thumbs up especially for the novice sewer and those tweens and teens wanting to learn how to sew a creative and fun project. To all others you may want to keep the project for yourself!
Textilbox.US franchise was officially launched in the U.S. in September 2015, and there is a Textilbox presence in France and Spain, but the Christmas box product and promotion is not available in those countries. Here are the links to those websites: Textilbox Spain and Textilbox France
I plan to host a Textilbox.US GIVEAWAY soon!
